GENERAL LIBRARY RULES

    Library Member should leave their personal belongings; bags, briefcases, personal books and parcel near the counter reserved for this purpose before entering into the library. They may keep loose papers, notebooks and Laptop (without bag).

    Mobile phone should be switched off in the library. Use of mobile phone in the library is strictly prohibited.

    The Library NIT Goa is based on open access policy; users can browse the items arranged on the shelves.

    Library follows Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme - 23 ed. for the arrangement of books

    Books or other materials taken from the stacks should not be re-shelved by the readers. Books should be left on the reading table after use.

    Readers should maintain peace in the library and should not disturb others in any way.

    Readers are requested to follow the Queue System at Circulation Counter

    While leaving the library reader should allow the library/security staff to check their reading material and personal belongings carried inside the library.

    Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library material in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged the full replacement cost of the material.

    Library Issued materials should be protected from Rain, Dust, Insects, etc.The damaged material will not be taken aback.

    Smoking and eatables are strictly prohibited.

    Chairs and tables should not be disturbed from their positions.

    Readers are requested to sit in a proper way while in the library. They should avoid resting their feet on tables, chairs, shelves, window sills.

    Changes in roll number, department, status, e-mail, address etc. to be informed to the library for seamless services and updates.

    Personal papers and non-library materials should not be left unattended on tables.

    Do not move books/journals from its specific area to another area.

    Library card is non-transferable. Do not give Id-card to others, the library will not allow others on same Id-card.

    The holder of ID-Card is responsible for any book issued against it as shown by library records.

    If one book of a set is damaged or lost, the member concerned shall be liable to replace the whole set.

    While taking a book on loan, please check the condition of the book. Users are only responsible for any kind of damage of lent items.

    Immediately after issued of the book, the reader is requested to take the book out of the library and not to bring except for returning purpose.

    Readers are requested to return the books on the time before the due date stipulated over the due date slip pasted on the last page of the book. If fails in returning the book on time, the user will be charged overdue fine Rs.2/day.

    If any user found always breaking the rule, not returning the issued books on time he/she will not be given the books till the whole academic year.

    Readers are quested to follow the guidelines of copyright act while photocopying a library book. Library never encourages or promote for infringement of any kind of Copyright Rules.
